Children's Ministry Lesson for February 26

Children's Ministry News

Join us for a weekend of growing together in gospel-centered parenting! We’ll be participating in the “Parenting: It’s Not What You Think It Is” parenting conference from Paul Tripp. This conference will show us how the gospel changes our approach to and practice of parenting. This conference will offer parents helpful, gospel-centered advice for raising kids of all ages!

In four sessions, we’ll learn how to:
1. Give Up Control: The goal of parenting is not to control your child’s life; they will quickly outgrow your authority and be independent individuals. Don’t miss the big picture of what God has called you to do.
2. Shape Their Character: Your children will reveal their lack of character over and over again. Learn how to lovingly expose the sin in their hearts and point them to the forgiveness of Jesus.
3. Thrive In The Teen Years: Culture portrays this period of life as a chaotic season to be survived, but the Bible is very optimistic about what can be accomplished. Learn how to make the most of the teen years and help them successfully transition from childhood to adulthood.
4. Rest In God: Parents who rest in God will experience abounding joy as a mother or father. This hope-infused conclusion will remind you that God never calls you to raise your kids without first providing you everything you need.
Childcare will be provided, as well as lunch on Saturday!

Schedule:
Friday 6:30pm-8:30pm
Saturday 9am-2pm

For this Sunday, we will have classes for:
  • Gospel Tots - ages 1 - 2 Years Old
  • Gospel Tykes - ages 3 - 5 Years Old
  • Gospel Kids - K - 2nd Grade
  • Gospel Students - 3rd - 5th Grade
We use Gospel Project for Kids curriculum for the Children's Ministry at GLC.  The Gospel Project for Kids is a Christ-centered ongoing weekly Bible study resource that looks at the big picture of God's story, the story of redemption through Jesus Christ. Each week, kids of all ages will follow a chronological timeline of Bible events, all the while learning how each story points to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

And now for this week's lesson...

We Should Be Sorry for Sin!

This upcoming Sunday your child will learn about: We Should Be Sorry for Sin!
Story Point: God sent Jesus to take the punishment our sin deserves. Because of Jesus, we have forgiveness of sins and eternal life. Through God’s Spirit, we have the power to turn away from sin and live to bring glory to God.
Family Bible Reading: For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, but worldly grief produces death. 2 Corinthians 7:10
Big Picture Question:  How should we feel when we sin?
Big Picture Answer:  When we sin, we should feel sorry that we have disobeyed God and want to turn from our sin because we love Him.

  • God’s people remembered all He had done and promised to be faithful. God is kind and loving. God has always done what is right even when His people have done what is wrong. We have God’s kindness and love through Jesus, who died on the cross so we can have life with God forever.
Gospel Students (3rd - 5th grade)
  • God’s people remembered all He had done and promised to be faithful. God is gracious and compassionate. All along, God has been faithful to people who are unfaithful. We experience God’s grace and compassion in Jesus, who gave His life so we can receive mercy and life forever.
