On Sunday, November 5, the small First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, TX was devastated by an attack that left 26 of their congregants dead, with another 20 sustaining injuries as a result of this senseless act of violence. While the country works to process through yet another mass shooting, we as the church know our God is sovereign and just. These acts of hatred and violence will not go unseen. Lives will not have been lost in vain. God will comfort the hurting and hold the unjust accountable.
We also know that Scripture calls us to “weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15) and to “bear one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2). Beyond the tragic loss of life, there will be funeral costs, medical bills, loss of income to families, member care, and the provision for a church whom has lost a large part of its congregation. Our brothers and sisters in Christ are in need.
With that, we have created a fund to accept donations to help support the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs. Our hope is to collect funds that we can donate directly to the church, helping them to meet the various needs, as they arise, from this unimaginable incident.
