New Lead Pastor: Tyler Jones

Please join us in welcoming Tyler Jones, the incoming new Lead Pastor of Gospel Life Church! After an extensive six-month search process, we are excited that God has chosen Tyler as the man He would have lead our local body!

About Tyler

Tyler is a native Texan, born in Midland. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas Tech University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. While at Texas Tech, Tyler served as a Youth Ministry Intern, Associate Youth Minister, and Interim Youth Minister at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church. From there, Tyler went on to receive his Masters of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky in 2012. After seminary, Tyler served as a Deacon/Connect Team Coordinator for Sojourn Community Church, also in Louisville, where additionally he completed Pastor School – a one-year, cohort-based training led by the pastors of Sojourn.

After his time in Louisville, Tyler returned to Lubbock to serve as the Groups Pastor for Experience Life Church, overseeing 73 groups, with 139 leaders, and 1,224 group members! During his time at Experience Life Church, Tyler also had the unique opportunity of serving as the Freedom Campus Pastor – a jail ministry extension of Experience Life Church located in the Lubbock County Detention Center.

From Lubbock, Tyler and his family moved to California in 2015 where he would occupy the post of Pastor of Adults at Rolling Hills Christian Church. During his time at Rolling Hills, Tyler oversaw multiple ministries including small groups, men’s ministry, women’s ministry, recovery ministry, and more. Tyler also preached on a rotational basis. It was from his position at Rolling Hills that Tyler felt the call to continue his ministry at a like-minded church where he could serve in a long-term capacity as the Lead Pastor in obedience to the Lord’s will.

Tyler and his wife, Kathryn, have been married for nine years. They have two daughters, Elsie (4) and Clara (2).

The Details

Tyler and Kathryn will be moving from California to Texas in mid-May. On May 21, we hope to hold an ordination ceremony for Tyler at our Sunday Gathering, at which point, after signing our Membership Covenant and Elder Covenant, he will officially become the Lead Pastor for Gospel Life Church. We anticipate that Tyler’s first Sunday to preach will be May 28.

We are thrilled to have Tyler join us at Gospel Life Church and we are excited for what God has in store for our local body as we seek to “advance the Gospel of Jesus in our lives and our city for the fame of Jesus’ name.”
