Becoming a follower of Christ can be quite an exciting life change! You’ve placed your faith in Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and are now embarking on a new relationship with your Lord and Savior. However, as Jesus warned, the Christian life isn’t one of comfort, but rather one of suffering. You may experience various forms of persecution for you new found faith – perhaps it may be disconnection from neighbors and friends, or hostility from family members. You may find the removal of heart idols to be painful and even isolating as you find yourself separated from relationships built around these idols – alienation from a community you once knew so intimately. While there is positive change, it often requires difficult growth.
However, the process of birth to a new life is worth the pain of death to the old life. Join us this fall, as we walk through the Book of 1 Thessalonians, examining how Paul encouraged these new believers in Christ toward humble, loving service toward one another. See how he explained to them that their suffering helped them to identify with Jesus and shaped their hearts in such a way that they would live a life consistent with His teachings. And, most of all, how their hope was not found in the transient things of this life, but rather the assurance of Jesus’ return.
To celebrate the kickoff of this new series, we also invite you to stick around after our Sunday Gathering on September 10th – we’ll have one of San Antonio’s finest food trucks onsite for you to pick up lunch and hang out with us. Look forward to treating yourself to some gourmet Mexican cuisine courtesy of Mr. Meximum.
Make your plans now to join us for this celebration and to stick around afterwards! As an added bonus, first-time visitors will receive a coupon for $10 off the purchase of their meal. Please feel free to invite a friend or family member – we hope to see you then! You can RSVP via Facebook here: http://bit.ly/2xLOFts
